Los Angeles Addiction and Recovery Counselor

The Disease of Addiction

What makes us Addicts is the disease of addiction–not the drugs or the alcohol, not our behavior but our disease.  When I say our disease, I am referring to myself, I too have the same disease, the difference is I have not used drugs or alcohol in 38 years.  I am here to tell you exactly how you can stop destroying your life and the lives of the people around you.

About Rose Safran MFT

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) specializing in addiction and recovery. With over 38 years of experience, I have helped countless individuals and families in Los Angeles overcome addiction and take back their lives.

Education and Credentials

  • Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University

  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of California

  • Approved by the Medical Board of California to treat Impaired Physicians suffering from addiction and alcoholism.

  • Facilitated the licensing and operating of multi-disciplinary programs treating individuals and family members recovering from the devastation of the Disease of Addiction.

A Compassionate Approach to Healing

As a recovering addict, I certainly understand the devastating effects our disease has on our lives and those people around us.  I know how difficult it is to stop using, it’s that inability to stop using the one thing that is destroying your life, and yet we can not control the use of drugs, no matter how hard you have tried.  How can you tell if you have the disease of addiction?  When you become trapped in the obsessive, compulsive, self centered routines, endless loops that lead nowhere but to your physical, emotional, and mental decay.

Our Services

Rose Safran MFT: I will offer you a comprehensive range of services designed to address the complex nature of addiction and support long-term recovery.  These services will be tailored to your needs, there is no cookie cutter approach to how your recovery process will look.

It will be entirely up to you, how much you want to invest in the rest of your life, or should I say, if you truly want to have a life worth living.  This will be the hardest thing you ever do, and it will be the best thing you ever do as well.  At this step in your journey to recovery, you probably see the devastation of your addiction and your old way of life.  What you can not imagine at this step of your journey is how rich the possibilities of a life of recovery are.

Our Approach to Addiction and Recovery

I believe in a holistic, client-centered approach to addiction treatment. My methodology incorporates various evidence-based therapies and techniques to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of addiction and recovery.

Surender

Many addicts walk into my office because someone told them that’s what they have to do.  Honestly it does not matter how you got here, what matters is you are here.  You don't have to accept you have a problem, and even if you think you have a problem, you probably don't believe there is anything that you can do about it.

That is the miracle of recovery, it’s the best kept secret.  Until you make that decision, there is something you want to do about it; you have been living with the illusion there is nothing you can do about it.  You may have even thought, “This is my destiny to be an addict”.  Well, let me tell you the best-kept secret: recovery is possible, and all you have to do is ask.  The first step you will take is you will surrender to the idea you have the disease of addiction, and now recovery is possible.

Recovery Begins Here

I know how scary this process is; you have known a way of life that you have accepted as the only way to overcome any difficulties you may have to face, and that is by getting high or drunk. Well, if that worked for you, you would not be reading this.  When we first stop using, all we usually want is the obsession to use to be removed.

That may seem like an impossibility, but I guarantee you that is exactly what will happen once you make the decision to surrender to your recovery. I will walk you through the process step by step, and you will begin to see the miracle recovery.

Mindfulness and Stress Reduction

Incorporating mindfulness practices into your recovery journey can significantly reduce stress and improve overall well-being. I teach various mindfulness techniques to help you stay grounded, manage cravings, and cultivate a greater sense of peace in your daily life.

Trauma-Informed Care

Recognizing the often interconnected nature of trauma and addiction, I  provide trauma-informed care to address underlying issues that may contribute to addiction. My gentle, compassionate approach helps you process traumatic experiences and develop resilience.  I use an evidenced based treatment, that is considered best practices, to treat PTSD.  The treatment will be incorporated into your treatment plan through CPT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, if PTSD is diagnosed.  This will be determined in your assessment process.

Holistic Wellness

I believe in nurturing the whole person in recovery. Our approach includes guidance on nutrition, exercise, sleep hygiene, and other lifestyle factors that support overall health and well-being.

She does not sugar coat things which is refreshing. I’m always at ease when I am with her, which is key when it comes to a great therapist.
